OC Judge Halts Angel Stadium Sale Amid Federal Investigation: Report

The stadium's sale was paused amid a federal corruption investigation into Mayor Harry Sidhu and his dealings with the Los Angeles Angels.

ANAHEIM, CA — A public corruption investigation into Anaheim Mayor Harry Sidhu put the skids on the $320-million sale of Angel Stadium Tuesday, the Los Angeles Times reported.

An Orange County Superior Court judge put a two-month hold on the city selling the stadium and the surrounding land to a company headed by Los Angeles Angels owner Arte Moreno. The hold stems from an FBI investigation into Sidhu's handling of the stadium's sale to Moreno and the Angels, the Times reported.

An affidavit from FBI special agent Brian Adkins claims Sidhu "illustrated his intent to solicit campaign contributions, in the amount of $1 million ... in exchange for performing officials acts intended to finalize the stadium sale for the Angels," according to the Times' report.
