OC Supervisor Andrew Do Announces Run For State Treasurer
Do is seeking to be the first Republican elected to statewide office in California since 2006.

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA — Orange County Supervisor Andrew Do Wednesday announced his candidacy for state treasurer, pledging to "reforming our state's investment and financing structures while managing our assets with an eye on protecting working families and those most in need."
The state treasurer is the state's lead asset manager, banker and financier and serves as chair or member of numerous state authorities, boards and commissions.
The Treasurer's Office manages the state's Pooled Money Investment Account, which invests monies on behalf of state government and local jurisdictions to help them manage their fiscal affairs.

Democrat Fiona Ma is seeking a second term.
Do is seeking to be the first Republican elected to statewide office in California since 2006 when Arnold Schwarzenegger was re-elected governor and Steve Poizner was elected insurance commissioner.

Do is also seeking to become the first Vietnamese-American to be elected to statewide office in California.
Do and his family fled South Vietnam in 1975 during the fall of Saigon.
Do was a deputy district attorney with the Orange County District Attorney's office, with his last assignment prosecuting sexually violent predators as a member of the office's Sexual Assault Unit.
Do was also a Garden Grove councilman before being elected to the Board of Supervisors.
