OCTA Gets $45M For Zero-Emission Busses, New Traffic Signals

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — The state has provided $45 million for two Orange County Transportation Authority projects.

The authority announced it has received $39.4 million for the Central Mobility Loop project that includes 33 zero-emission buses, replacing 10 gas- powered paratransit vehicles with zero-emission vehicles.

The money will also fund an effort to synchronize traffic signals that will allow buses to run at more consistent speeds, a new bike storage space at the Santa Ana Regional Transportation Center as well as fast-charging stations at the center and the one in Fullerton Transportation Center.

The authority will also receive $5 million for the Coastal Rail Corridor Relocation Study to provide a longer-term plan for shoring up the rail along the coast, which had to be recently refurbished because of erosion.
