Orange County Board Of Education Member Temporarily Removed: Report

The removal comes after an Orange County Superior Court Judge found the member may have been illegally appointed.

COSTA MESA, CA — A La Habra man was temporarily barred Friday from serving on the Orange County Board of Education after a judge found that he may have been appointed to the role illegally, the Voice of OC reported.

Tim Shaw first served as a trustee in 2020 but later resigned in 2021 over conflict of interest allegations involving him serving on the board and the La Habra City Council at the same time, according to Voice of OC's report. He was then reappointed a month after his resignation and is currently running for re-election to finish out his original term.

Orange County Superior Court Judge Martha Gooding found the appointment likely violated a state law known as Section 1752.
