Pedestrian Dies In DUI Hit-And-Run At Bus Stop In Santa Ana
A man remained jailed Tuesday for allegedly driving impaired and killing a pedestrian at a bus stop in Santa Ana, then leaving the scene.
ORANGE COUNTY, CA — A 55-year-old man remained jailed Tuesday for allegedly driving impaired and killing a pedestrian at a bus stop in Santa Ana, then leaving the scene.
Juan Venicio Gallardo of Anaheim was arrested Sunday and was being held on $100,000 bail, according to jail records.
Police were called just before 5 p.m. Sunday to a bus stop near 1500 S. Fairview St., where the victim was injured by a hit-and-run driver, according to police. The injured man was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead Monday, police said.

Authorities were still working to identify the victim's relatives, so his name was not immediately released.
Police said the driver who struck the pedestrian left the scene, but was arrested a short time later.
Gallardo was booked on suspicion of hit-and-run and felony driving under the influence, police said.

Gallardo has a pending case of drunken driving in Santa Ana. He was accused of misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.08% or more on March 29, 2021, according to the complaint.
