SWAT Team Nabs Armed OC Man Wanted For Drug, Probation Violations

A man wanted for drug violations and probation warrants evaded Anaheim police for more than 5 hours before being caught in Fullerton.

ORANGE COUNTY, CA -- A man wanted for drug violations and probation warrants led Anaheim police officers on a chase that began in Anaheim Thursday evening, and ended Friday morning with a crash and arrest in Fullerton, according to authorities.

Members of the Anaheim Crime Task Force say they tried to make contact with the suspect around 8 p.m. Thursday in Anaheim when the suspect drove away and a pursuit began, according to Sgt. Daron Wyatt of the Anaheim Police Department.

During the chase, the suspect intentionally rammed an unmarked police unit, then ran from the crash scene. The investigator in the unmarked unit was not hurt, Wyatt said. The location of the crash was unknown.

Officers lost sight of the fleeing suspect in a residential neighborhood in the area of Yorba Linda and State College boulevards in Fullerton and a perimeter was set up to search for the man, Wyatt said.

During the search, a security camera at a home in the area captured images of the suspect armed with a handgun, prompting officers to call for the SWAT team to take over the search, he said.
