Todd Spitzer Launches Reelection Campaign For OCDA: Report

The Orange County District Attorney claims he will be the opposite of the "soft-on-crime" approach used in Los Angeles County.

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — The race for Orange County's next top prosecutor began Wednesday when incumbent District Attorney Todd Spitzer launched his re-election campaign, the OC Register reported.

Spitzer, a Republican, is facing off against Pete Hardin, a progressive Democrat who seeks to reform the office. The incumbent district attorney called his challenger a clone of Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon during the kickoff event and claimed Hardin was "soft on crime," the Register reported.

Spitzer has positioned his reelection bid as a sort of referendum against Gascon and his policies that the Orange County prosecutor believes have been lenient on criminals, the paper reported.
