Two-Hour Car Chase Through Anaheim And Fullerton Ends In Arrest

Police officers attempted to perform a PIT maneuver twice on a Ranger Rover that was said to be stolen, according to authorities.

FULLERTON, CA — A man was taken into custody in Fullerton Thursday evening after leading police on a nearly two-hour pursuit in a stolen Range Rover.

Anaheim Police Department officers began pursuing the Range Rover just north of the Fullerton Airport about 8:15 p.m. and followed the suspect for about 45 minutes before backing off and relinquishing control of the pursuit to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officers deployed multiple spike strips against the Range Rover, puncturing at least three of its tires. Police attempted a PIT maneuver against the vehicle in the area of Brookhurst Road and Southgate Avenue, but the man continued driving and managed to shear off the rear bumper of a patrol vehicle.

Police performed another PIT against the vehicle in the area of Commonwealth Avenue and Gilbert Street, after which the man pulled into a nearby gas station and surrendered to police about 9:53 p.m.

The driver was taken into custody without further incident.
