Volunteer Gets Mauled By Dog; Files Lawsuit Against OC Shelter: Report
The dog bit the volunteer 18 times, mauling her so badly that suffered "extremely serious injuries," her attorney said.

TUSTIN, CA — An Orange County animal shelter is under fire after a former volunteer alleged that when a shelter dog turned violent on her, she was mauled for almost seven minutes while screaming for help and receiving none, The Orange County Register reported.
Emily Moncur, a volunteer at the Orange County Animal Care facility in Tustin, had just wrapped up taking photos of a large dog named Blaze and was attempting to put Blaze back in his kennel.
Blaze bite Moncur 18 times, mauling her so badly that she lost consciousness and suffered "extremely serious injuries, physically and psychologically," her attorney said.

"The key here is about ensuring there is accountability by Orange County Animal Care," Moncur's attorney, John Montevideo, told the newspaper. "This is a story about a preventable incident caused by a dereliction of duties that unnecessarily increased the risks of working with neglected dogs in Orange County."
