WESTMINSTER, CA — Westminster is hurtling toward bankruptcy by 2024 after a one percent sales tax that helped shore up the city's coffers expired last year, Voice of OC reported.

If city leaders can't figure out a solution, the bankruptcy will lead to the gutting of many public services, Voice of OC reported. Public park access and police department divisions could go away.

The sales tax, also known as Measure SS, was approved by Westminster voters in 2016 and expired in December.
