6-Foot Waves Expected In Pacific Palisades
Officials warned beachgoers about dangerous waves and deadly rip currents in LA County through Thursday evening.
PACIFIC PALISADES, CA — Big waves are coming to Will Rogers State Beach, as the National Weather Service issued a Beach Hazards Statement across coastal Los Angeles County through Thursday evening.
The Beach Hazards Statement is in effect from 6 p.m. Tuesday to Thursday evening. According to officials, residents can expect breaking waves of three to six feet. The NWS warned residents against swimming or surfing in the dangerous conditions.
"Remain out of the water due to hazardous swimming conditions, or stay near occupied lifeguard towers. Rock jetties can be deadly in such conditions, stay off the rocks," the NWS said in a statement.

The dangerous ocean conditions include an increased risk of drowning due to strong rip currents that can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea, officials said. The NWS said the waves may wash people off of beaches and rocks and capsize small boats near the shore.
In addition to hazardous waves, officials said cities may experience minor coastal flooding over beaches around high tide. Flooding could be an issue, particularly in the Zuma Beach parking lot in Malibu.
