PACIFIC PALISADES, CA — Local authorities have teamed up to offer a new access pass for residents and others who need to access restricted portions of Pacific Coast Highway.

PCH between Chautauqua Boulevard in Pacific Palisades and Carbon Beach Terrace in Malibu remains under a "soft closure" following the Palisades Fire and subsequent mudslides, in which only residents and those working for an essential business are allowed access.

Those who wish to enter the restricted area must first obtain a pass. Previously issued passes will continue to be honored, but those who do not yet have a pass can begin picking up a new "unified" pass beginning March 4 as follows:

Officials cited some examples of essential businesses as "brick-and-mortar businesses, caretakers, healthcare workers, grocery workers, babysitters, etc." and said eligibility will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The Sheriff's Department, Los Angeles Police Department, City of Los Angeles and county Supervisor Horvath’s office teamed up to create the unified PCH access pass, which will include all agency logos.
