Q & A with Top Stock Expert, The Oracle on Wilshire

Benjamin Blakeman gives some advice and predictions

“How many times have you heard your financial advisor or favorite analyst say, 'no one can time the market'? or 'buy and hold is the only safe strategy'? How many times have you heard the same financial advisor or analyst blame, “the algorithms,” after a particularly bad day in the stock market?" asks, Stock Expert, Benjamin Blakeman. “Well, which is it? If large investors are privy to trading algorithms that get them out of the market before they go down, before the public at large and back in the market before stocks start to go up again, then timing the market must work for some people. Just not you, right? Who’s kidding whom with this nonsense? Or maybe you’ve signed up for a service that promises to tell you when to get out of the market before a decline, but by the time they warn you to get out, the market has already dropped significantly.”

Benjamin Blakeman publishes “The Oracle on Wilshire” a weekly newsletter that summarizes general market activity plus specific signals for buying and selling stocks, futures and funds. I sat down with The Oracle to ask him some questions.

How did you come up with the algorithm for Oracle on Wilshire?
I experimented with dozens of indicators over a period of more than six years before settling on seven or eight indicators that seemed to filter trades that seemed to have a high probability of success, as well as indicators that seemed to be effective sell signals that get one out of a trade at an optimal time. An experienced software designer wrote the algorithm.

What is your background on stock investing?
I was a series 6, 65-registered representative for seven years, 24 general securities principal (compliance officer) for over five years with two different insurance agencies, and traded my own account since 1996. I have been a commodity trader off and on for over 50 years.

Why do you think there is a need for your services now?
The stock market over the past two years has changed significantly and has become much more risky than I think it was previously. The most important thing a person can learn is how to honestly assess the level of risk that is appropriate for them and how to avoid significant losses. Most traders do not know how to do this without assistance.

Has the climate changed in people seeking support and help in investing in the stock market?
Yes. More and more people are investing and trading and most of them have absolutely no idea how to go about it or whom to trust with advice. In one case you may have heard about, a 20-year-old college student needlessly committed suicide falsely believing he owed his broker over $700,000.

What is the first thing someone does to join your Oracle on Wilshire?
Go to the website and sign up. The first month of momentum trades is free, and thereafter $40 per month at present. This is significantly underpriced for the value of this service.

Is the service easy to use?
That depends on the level of experience. We advise of the stocks we are buying and selling within 15 minutes of every trade we make. It is then up to the subscriber what they do with the information. We will also offer trading advice at no additional charge to those who request it, and at some point, we will do webinars when there is sufficient interest.

Who are your competitors and what is the difference in what you are offering?
There are thousands of competitors. They are all different. What is unique about our service is that our algorithm in many cases will be triggered within one to three days before the stock (or exchange traded fund) actually makes a significant move to the upside and we will receive a sell signal in many cases in time to avoid significant losses.

What are the mistakes most new investors make in buying stocks?
They fail to plan what they will do if the stock or option goes in the wrong direction.

What do you predict will change in 2022 for investors?
It will be much more difficult to make money.

Has the pandemic changed the stock market and in which way?
The pandemic has brought tens of millions of new investors into the game and has increased the amount of option trading, especially among young and inexperienced investors.
