Bicyclist Suffers Majors Injuries In Collision Near Indio

INDIO, CA — A bicyclist was hospitalized with major injuries after a vehicle collision Monday near Indio.
The crash was reported shortly before 10 a.m. Monday on Country Club Drive, according to California Highway Patrol Officer David Torres.
A Dodge Charger was traveling at an unconfirmed speed eastbound on Country Club Drive in the No. 2 lane, east of Adams Street, when it hit the rear of the bicycle.

As a result, the bicyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected and landed on the pavement. The victim, who was identified only as a male, was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs.
Drugs and/or alcohol are not suspected to be a factor in the crash, Torres said.

The cause of the collision was under investigation.
