Record-Setting Overnight Temperatures Forecast This Weekend In RivCo
Don't expect a big nighttime reprieve from the high heat that's forecast to bear down on Riverside County this weekend.
RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — National Weather Service forecasters are urging all Riverside County residents and visitors to expect a "moderate to major heat risk" beginning Friday as triple digits again bear down on the region.
While the daytime high temperatures are not expected to set records, the overnight temperatures are, bringing little relief from the heat wave.
"The higher Heat Risk through the weekend into next week will continue to be driven more by the very warm overnight temperatures for inland areas than by the very hot daytime temperatures," according to the NWS. "The heat is most likely not going to be record-setting in terms of high temperatures. However, some record-warm low temperatures are more likely to be tied or broken for the mountains and deserts, with the most likely day on Saturday."

Daytime temperatures in the Coachella Valley and further east are expected to peak at 117 degrees, while overnight lows will be near 90 degrees.

In Southwest Riverside County, daytime highs will approach 100, with overnight lows approaching 70 degrees.
The San Gorgorgio Pass Area will be warmer, with daytime highs exceeding triple digits and overnight lows cooling to the mid-70s.
The monsoonal moisture that brought rain to local mountains and deserts in recent days will dissipate this weekend but is forecast to return early next week, bringing a chance of thunderstorms for the county's eastern parts.
Heat relief, however, is not expected anywhere in Riverside County. Forecasters say the high heat will likely continue through July.
"While the Heat Risk for inland areas may decrease slightly for Monday through Thursday from this weekend ... there likely won't be any real relief from the heat much before the final weekend in July ...," according to the NWS.
