Every Blue Bottle cafe is created with an understanding of the surrounding environment, including its history, population and geography. Cafes are both a unique representation of the Blue Bottle craft and a respectful tribute to the communities in which they are located.
After all, many have passed the hours studying and innovating in the Silicon Valley with a mug in hand. Now those who frequent the Stanford Shopping Center, which constantly reinvents itself, may come up with the latest thing — whether in tech or otherwise.
Blue Bottle Coffee was founded in 2002 by James Freeman in Oakland, California. A self-declared "coffee lunatic," Freeman — like a chemist — hand roasted beans in a 183-square-foot potting shed and then delivered them to friends from his Peugeot wagon. Seventeen years later, Blue Bottle has grown to a network of cafes in 10 cities in the United States, Japan and Korea.
"I will only sell coffee less than 48 hours out of the roaster to my guests, so they may enjoy coffee at peak flavor. I will only use the finest, most delicious and responsibly sourced beans," Freeman declared.
