Palo Alto Short Story Contest Offers Up To $500

Palo Alto Weekly is offering up to $500 to submit a story of 2,500 words or fewer.

PALO ALTO, CA — Have a story to tell? Palo Alto Weekly is running a short story contest for children and adults with prizes of up to $500. The deadline to submit is Monday, April 4.

The newspaper is seeking stories of 2,500 words or fewer. The contest is open to anyone of any age from Palo Alto, East Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Atherton, Redwood City, Stanford, Portola Valley, Woodside, Mountain View, Los Altos, or Los Altos Hills.

Stories should be double-spaced, in Times New Roman font, with a title and page numbers. They should be submitted anonymously and without any artwork. The adult entry fee is $20, and the Young Adult and Teen entry fee is $10.

First-place winners in the adult category will be awarded $500; second-place will win $300, and third-place will win $200.

In the young adults and teen categories (18 or under), first place winners will receive a $100 gift certificate, second place will receive a $75 gift certificate, and 3rd place will receive a $50 gift certificate.
