PALO ALTO, CA — A record-breaking K-pop boy band has announced their return to the world stage four years after going on hiatus — and they'll be making a stop in the Bay Area later this year.

The BTS World Tour was just announced on Tuesday. The tour will bring the K-pop sensations to Stanford Stadium in Palo Alto for two days — May 16 and 17.

"Presenting these artists allows us to engage with global perspectives and voices shaping contemporary culture," Vice President for the Arts at Stanford, Deborah Cullinan, said in a statement Tuesday. "It is a powerful opportunity to bring students, artists, and the broader community together through shared cultural experiences rooted in Stanford’s values of openness, creativity, and connection."

Tickets are currently on sale for BTS fan club membership, known as an Army Membership, through Sunday. Tickets for select shows will be available to fan club members on Thursday, Jan. 22, and Friday, Jan. 23. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Saturday, Jan. 24.

"Notably, the tour will feature a 360-degree, in-the-round stage design," Stanford officials said. "The immersive setup places the audience at the center of the experience while allowing for increased capacity at every venue."

BTS went on hiatus during arguably the peak of their careers as they began their mandatory military service in South Korea. The last member of the boy band was released from their duties in June 2025.

The group, consisting of RM, Jin, Jimin, V, Suga, Jung Kook and j-hope, has not performed together since their "Permission to Dance on Stage" tour in 2022.

The band kicks off their new tour with three concert dates in Goyang, South Korea, in April, followed by a two-day concert in Tokyo before taking on the U.S. leg of the tour.
