SAN PEDRO, CA — Commuters are being asked to plan ahead as construction near the Vincent Thomas Bridge will shut down multiple ramps for the next few months, according to port officials.

Port of Los Angeles officials announced this week that a three-month construction project will see the closure of the northbound Harbor (110) Freeway on-ramp and the southbound Terminal Island SR 47 off-ramp around Harbor Boulevard. Crews will also be working to realign Knoll Drive.

Detours will be put in place, with port officials asking drivers to access the northbound 110 Freeway through Gaffey Street in San Pedro. Drivers exiting through the southbound SR 47 route will be rerouted through Pacific Avenue.

The construction is part of the ongoing $130 million project to reconfigure the area near the Vincent Thomas Bridge and improve roadways.

A separate Caltrans project will see the Vincent Thomas Bridge close in fall 2026. There, crews will replace the entire bridge deck and seismic sensors to enhance its overall safety, according to port officials.
