LASD Arrest 60-Something Suspected Of Murdering Teen

A man in his 60s was arrested on suspicion of killing a teen who lived in his apartment building, authorities said.

LOMITA, CA — Sheriff's deputies have arrested a man in his 60s for allegedly killing a teen Sunday who lived in his apartment building.

The shooting in the 25400 block of Oak Street was reported at 4:16 p.m., according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Eric Ortiz.

A 911 call directed officers to an apartment where the body of an 18- year-old man was found. The victim, whose name was withheld, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives learned that the two building residents got into an argument, Ortiz said, adding that the older man was arrested and a firearm recovered at the scene. Further details were not immediately available.

The suspect, whose name was not immediately released, was taken to the Lomita sheriff's station and booked.
