Open Enrollment Begins for Local High Schools

Incoming ninth graders can choose whether to attend PV High or Peninsula.

Open enrollment has begun for eight-grade students who plan to attend a high school in the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District, according to a notice posted on the district's website

Students entering the ninth grade in September can choose between Palos Verdes High School or Palos Verdes Peninsula High School. Additionally, students who are new to the district are also eligible.

"Planning has begun for the 2014-15 school year," Superintendent Walker Williams wrote in a letter to parents. "Decisions on the hiring and placement of faculty and scheduling of classes need to be made. High school enrollment numbers, particularly (ninth) grade enrollment, is critical to effective preparation.

Students must make their choice and return a form (available online) by 4:30 p.m. Feb. 19 to commit to a school for the 2014-2015 school year, according to the letter. Students who don't return the form by the deadline will be enrolled at a high school based on available space.

Information night: 6-8 pm. Jan. 23

Principal's Forums (held in Room 318):

  • 6:30-7:30 p.m. Jan. 28
  • 6:30-7:30 p.m. Feb. 4
  • 9:30-10:30 a.m. Feb. 11

PALOS VERDES PENINSULA HIGH SCHOOL

Information night: 5-8 p.m. Jan. 30

Principal's Forums (held in College/Career Center):

  • 6:30-8 p.m. Feb. 3
  • 3-4:30 p.m. Feb. 10
  • 6:30-8 p.m. Feb. 12

Both high schools' counseling offices will have more detailed information on their campuses' respective activities and events.
