Palos Verdes AYSO Postpones Season Due To Testing Rules

Palos Verdes AYSO will postpone its season amid required COVID-19 testing rules.

PALOS VERDES, CA — The Palos Verdes American Youth Soccer Organization announced it will postpone its season due to required COVID-19 testing guidelines from Los Angeles County Public Health that organizers say is too expensive and complicated to coordinate, Spectrum News1 reports.

Players had picture day but for now, the season is on hold.

Regional Commissioner Wendy Murdoch said there wasn't enough time to plan the testing process as the season was slated to start.

"Just the logistics of it; we can't do it as how it's written right now," Murdoch said. "And you know kids need to be outside playing any sport, not just soccer, but they need to be active. They've had a year and a half of basically no activities."

Beginning this week, athletes in Los Angeles County are required to be tested 72 hours before a game.
