PVPUSD Among Best School Districts In CA, New Ranking Says

Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District ranked sixth overall in a list of 300 school districts in California, according to Niche.

PALOS VERDES, CA — Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District ranked among the best in California in Niche's 20205 Best Schools and Districts rankings released Monday.

PVPUSD ranked sixth in the list of 300 California school districts that earned a mention in Niche's ranking. The school district earned a letter grade of A+. Grades in specific categories were:

  • Academics: A+
  • Teachers: A+
  • Clubs and activities: A-
  • Sports: A-
  • Resources and facilities: B
  • Diversity: A-
  • College prep: A+
  • Administration: A
  • Food: B+

The school district, which has 10,457 students, has a student-teacher ratio of 23 to 1, according to Niche. According to state test scores, 72 percent of students are proficient in math and 80 percent are proficient in reading.

Niche's rankings combine rankings from current students, alumni and parents with quantitative data from sources like the U.S. Department of Education. This year's rankings include data for 11,000 school districts in the country, including more than 93,000 public schools and 30,000 private schools.
