PALOS VERDES, CA — Many parents on the Palos Verdes Peninsula have already begun back-to-school planning for their students as summer break winds down.
The first day of school in Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District is Wednesday, Aug. 21.
Heading into the upcoming school year, some dates are subject to change. Here are some of the important 2024-25 school year dates to get on the calendar:

- Election Day: Nov. 5
- Veteran's Day: Nov. 11
- Thanksgiving break: Nov. 25-29

- Martin Luther King Jr. Day: Jan. 20
- Local Holiday: Feb. 14
- President's Day: Feb. 17
- Spring break: April 7-11
- Memorial Day: May 26
