This Speakeasy Event Pairs Edgar Allan Poe's Tales With Cocktails
The 90-minute event retells four of the writer's macabre tales while a mixologist turns those stories into drinks, according to organizers.
SAN PEDRO, CA — Breathe in an atmosphere of sorrow, macabre, darkness, and all other emotions the tales of famed writer Edgar Allan Poe have to offer at this exclusive speakeasy event coming soon to the South Bay.
The Edgar Allan Poe Speakeasy is a 90-minute event where historians retell four of the writer's tales while a mixologist turns those stories into drinks, according to organizers.
Drinks include the Pale Blue Eye, a blueberry vodka with fresh lemon juice with rose syrup and topped with La Croix; the Cocktail of Red Death, a drink made of 100-proof vodka, cherry herring, Benedictine liquor, lime juice, pineapple juice and bitters; The Nevermore, a blakc and gold cocktail with orange peach blossom vodka, lime juice and secret spices; and the Edgar's Twisted Brandy Milk Punch, a drink with equal parts Kentuck bourbon and French brandy, mixed with vanilla cream, milk syrup, half and half and topped with star anise, according to the company that operates the Edgar Allan Poe Speakeasy.

Reservations are restricted to a small number of guests and usually take place for two nights only. But the upcoming 21+ experience in San Pedro will take place from Thursday, Oct. 2, to Saturday, Oct. 4.
"Step back in time and immerse yourself in the dark and mysterious world of Edgar Allan Poe," organizers said online. "Led by the speakeasy’s lead mixologist and Poe historians, this immersive evening promises to be a chillingly unforgettable experience. "

The event will take place at The Grand Annex Music Hall, located at 434 West Sixth Street in San Pedro. Tickets for the event can be purchased here.
