Last week we asked Patch readers in Los Angeles County to name their worst intersections, roads and freeway spots; and with your input, we produced the above map from reader contributions.

Busy intersections and potentially dangerous turns topped a list of your picks for the worst driving spots in Palos Verdes.

Several readers pointed out two particularly dangerous spots: the intersection of Palos Verdes Drive West and Palos Verdes Drive North in Palos Verdes Estates and the intersection of Verde Ridge Road and Hawthorne Boulevard in Rancho Palos Verdes.

The Palos Verdes Drive West and Palos Verdes Drive North triangle intersection was singled out because of poor visibility and its confusing design.

"(The) intersection needs a stop sign for north bound (sic) traffic on PV (Drive) West," wrote one reader. "When people speed, visibility is bad."

"People don't always realize some traffic doesn't stop and they pull out or they stop for no reason cause they don't understand how it works," wrote another.

Similarly, the intersection of Verde Ridge Road and Hawthorne Boulevard was called out for poor visibility.

One reader said there were "many bad accidents" in the area, noting that he or she was hospitalized for six weeks after an accident there in December 2009.

"This is a T intersection. The view is blocked by utility boxes when turning from Verde Ridge onto Hawthorne," the reader wrote. "The RPV traffic commission promised to have the utility boxes moved a year and a half ago, but nothing has happened."

Another reader also pointed out that the utility box needed to be moved "so you don't have to pull out into the bicycle lane for a clear view."
