Woman Sought In Possible Child-Luring Attempt In Palos Verdes
The possible child-luring attempt happened as a 10-year-old was walking home from school around 3:45 p.m. on May 9, police said.
PALOS VERDES ESTATES, CA — Police in Palos Verdes are searching for a suspect in a possible child-luring attempt that happened Friday afternoon.
Palos Verdes police say a 10-year-old was walking home from Lunada Bay Elementary when a woman pulled up alongside him in the 2400 block og Via Pacheco and insisted on offering him a ride.
The woman claimed she would text the boy's mother to let her know, but he refused to get in the car, according to the Palos Verdes Estates Police Department.

At some point, a Good Samaritan walking a dog in the area stepped in and asked the boy if he knew the woman, according to police. The boy said he didn't know the woman, and the Good Samaritan told him to go home while he stayed and talked with her, police said.
The child then ran home safely and reported what happened to his parents, police said.

Officers responded to the area where the boy reported seeing the woman and the Good Samaritan, but were unable to locate either of them, police said.
A detective with the Palos Verdes Estates Police Department is currently investigating the possible child-luring attempt, according to authorities.
Police originally described the suspect as a Black woman between 30 to 50 years old, with a medium build and brown hair. But on Monday, police said the Good Samaritan came forward and described the suspect as a white woman, possibly of Japanese origin, driving a dark blue SUV.
"Although the description of the female differs from the original report, our detectives continue to actively investigate the matter and are reviewing all available information," police said in a statement Monday.
