Pacific Asia Museum Recruiting Docents

Pacific Asia Museum has started its search for new docents.

The museum is seeking "leaders, teachers, communicators, and interpreters," according to a release.  Training sessions are offered every two years, with the next session starting Sept. 10.  From there, the sessions continue every Tuesday from 10 a.m to 2 p.m. (excluding December) until February of 2014. Lectures, gallery training and homework are all included in the training.

Anyone interested in becoming a docent is required to make a three-year commitment. Docents tour one to four times per month from October through June on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday mornings, and there are also monthly Docent Council meetings on select Tuesdays from September through May. According to the museum, there are opportunities to volunteer for special tours at other times. Prospective docents must also be able to meet the physical demands of walking and standing for one-hour tours.
