If you missed a few days of Patch coverage this week, here's another recap of five stories that led SGV-area Patch sites:
- Authorities ordered the evacuation of businesses along a stretch of Chestnut Avenue in Monrovia Thursday morning after an underground electrical explosion buckled a portion of the street. The explosion blew a hole through the asphalt on Chestnut between Fifth Avenue and Monterey Avenue. The headquarters for World Vision were briefly evacuated after the explosion, reported at 8:35 a.m., but employees were let back in shortly thereafter.
- Pasadena Police found a human skull and bones at an altar while investigating a trespassing complaint last weekend, and a woman told investigators that she uses the artifacts to practice the religion Santeria. The bones were found by police on Saturday while they were investigating a trespassing call in the 800 block of North Oakland Avenue.
- Glendora and Azusa police officers set up a minor perimeter on the Citrus College campus Wednesday afternoon, searching for a suspicious man an Azusa Pacific University student said may be carrying a gun. The call was received at around 4 p.m. Wednesday. Authorities did not find the man or any gun in their search.
- South Pasadena named retired Los Angeles Police Department Capt. Art Miller as the interim police chief, as questions continue to swirl around the unexpected departure of Joseph Payne.
- for an upcoming HBO movie. The set was adjacent to the South Pasadena Historical Museum and Gold Line station. The would-be rally had one commuter asking "is Romney going to be here?" Apparently, Romney was nowhere to be found.
