1 Arrested In BB Gun Assault, 2nd Suspect Sought: Petaluma PD
A woman suffered in her hand and the back of her head, police said.

PETALUMA, CA — The Petaluma Police Department made an arrest in connection with a shooting earlier this month and was seeking a second suspect, police said Monday.
Officers responded shortly before 11 p.m. Sept. 17 to the 100 block of Howard Street where a woman was bleeding and shouting that she had been shot, according to Petaluma PD Community Engagement Liaison Kelsey McCarthy.
The victim told police that the passenger in a blue car shot multiple rounds at her from a BB gun, striking her hand.

As she tried to run into a neighboring backyard, the passenger got out of the car, walked up to her, and shot her in the back of her head, causing a puncture wound, she told police.
As the victim was taken to the hospital, officers accessed footage from nearby surveillance cameras.

McCarthy said they located footage of the car and its driver, who was later identified as Christopher Caballero, 19, of Petaluma.
"Evidence was located inside the vehicle in plain view," McCarthy said. "Caballero was contacted and admitted to driving, although he has not identified the passenger subject."
Caballero was arrested and booked into Sonoma County jail on suspicion of conspiracy to commit a crime and assault with a deadly weapon.
A search of jail records Monday morning indicated Caballero was no longer in custody.
As for the passenger, McCarthy said detectives and CSI team members were investigating and processing the evidence to secure the person's identity.
