Arrest Made In Lakeville Highway Head-On Collision: CHP

One person was airlifted from the crash with life-threatening injures, the California Highway Patrol said.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A 37-year-old Connecticut man was arrested on suspicion of causing a head-on crash near Petaluma that left another man in a hospital with life-threatening injuries Sunday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

David Aspegren Jr., a resident of Ashford, Connecticut, was arrested following the crash first reported at 10:23 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Stage Gulch Road and Lakeville Highway, which is also known as state Highway 116.

Aspegren was driving a Chevrolet Impala south and allowed it to cross into the opposing lane where it struck a Ford Focus being driven north by a 22-year-old Davis man, CHP officials said.

The Ford driver was flown to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital to be treated for his life-threatening injuries.

Aspegren was taken to the hospital by ambulance and was later booked into Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs causing great bodily injury, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the CHP.
