Consumers Asked To Show Some Love For Their Farmers Market This Summer

The Petaluma Farmers Market is open Wednesdays and Saturdays.

A non-profit organization is asking consumers to support their local farmers market this summer by pledging to shop there.

American Farmland Trust has kicked off its I Love My Farmers Market campaign for 2013. It's the fifth consecutive year for the summertime program.

The trust is asking consumers to pledge to spend $10 during one week of the summer at their local farmers market. They hope to raise $1 million to help local farms by the time the campaign ends on Sept. 9.

Do you shop at farmers markets? Do you plan to participate in the summer campaign? Let us know in the comments.

The Petaluma Farmers Market is open from 2-5:30 p.m. Saturdays at Walnut Park and 4:30-8 p.m. Wednesdays on 2nd Street between B and D streets.
