Driver Trapped In Flipped Vehicle Charged With DUI
Testing after the driver was extricated showed that he was driving with a blood alcohol level over double the legal limit, police said.
PETALUMA, CA — A driver who was trapped in a vehicle after a collision was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, Petaluma police said Saturday.
The driver was identified as Daniel Islas-Ortiz, a 22-year-old Petaluma resident.
Testing after he was extricated determined that Ortiz was driving with a blood alcohol level over double the legal limit, police said.
The collision was reported about 9:52 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of West Street and Eden Lane, police said.

Calls to police reported the vehicle had flipped onto its side and someone appeared to be trapped inside. Members of the Petaluma Fire Department were able to free the driver.
