PETALUMA, CA — To help reduce fire risk, residents in Petaluma are invited to bring brush and vegetation to a wood chipping crew at no cost through July.
The Petaluma Fire Department will have a chipper and crew available at Prince Park through the end of the month. All residents need to do is cut and remove "fire fuels" or excess vegetation around their homes and haul it to the marked site at the park.
The crews will dispose of the debris.

Here's what the chipper will not take: raked duff, pine needles, grass or garbage bags. Only vegetation will be allowed; no other items will be accepted, the fire department said.
Only a maximum of 9 diameter rounds can be chipped, officials added.
