Petaluma Police Might Leave A Card On Your Car
The card is not a ticket or a scam, police said.
PETALUMA — Petaluma residents may find a card from the local police on their car in the near future, according to the agency.
The Petaluma Police Department is rolling out district policing contact cards as a way to let the public know where officers have been and how to reach them.
"While you were sleeping, your Petaluma Police Department district officers were here," reads an example card posted on social media by the agency. "Thank you for securing your vehicle to help us prevent theft."

The card, which also includes police contact information and how to learn more about local police districts, is not a ticket or a scam, the department clarified.
"Whether we’re out on extra patrols, conducting traffic enforcement, or just in the neighborhood, this card is our commitment to staying visible, accessible, and connected with you," police said in the social media post.
