Police Arrest 9 on First Day of Sonoma County DUI Crackdown
The Avoid the 13 DUI taskforce is ramping up roving drunk driving patrols in Sonoma County through Labor Day, Sept. 5.

Police throughout Sonoma County from Friday, Aug. 18 through Labor Day are increasing drunk driving patrols. Police said driving under the influence checkpoints Friday night netted nine arrests — three at a sobriety and driver's license checkpoint in Petaluma and six from other roving Sonoma County patrols.
At one stop on Lakeville Highway and McDowell Boulevard South, police from Petaluma, Rohnert Park, the California Highway Patrol and Santa Rosa conducted between 6 p.m. and midnight screened 1,028 vehicles.
Police said 66 drivers were detained "for further investigation." Twenty-four were ultimately cited, three were arrested for DUI, one for having an outstanding warrant and one for driving without a license.

Police said at least two more checkpoints are planned for the DUI crackdown period ending Sept. 5.
