SMART To Open Pathways From Petaluma, Rohnert Park Stations
Community events are planned to celebrate the new pedestrian/bike paths between Petaluma and Penngrove and from Rohnert Park to Santa Rosa.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — Sonoma Marin Area Rail Transit invites the public to help celebrate the completion of two Sonoma County segments of pedestrian and bike pathways.
Community walk/rides are set for April 26-27 on the new pathway segments between Petaluma and Penngrove and from Rohnert Park to Santa Rosa. The segments are part of the SMART Pathway/Great Redwood Trail and provide a more direct route, SMART officials said.
Rohnert Park-Santa Rosa
At 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 26, community members are invited to "step, pedal or glide" at their own pace for 3.4 miles from the Rohnert Park SMART Station, 300 Enterprise Drive, to Andy's Unity Park, 3399 Moorland Ave. in Santa Rosa, where a Día del Niño celebration is taking place that afternoon. The Moorland Neighborhood welcomes everyone to the family-friendly event.

Petaluma-Penngrove
At 10:30 a.m. the next day, Sunday, April 27, SMART invites the community to walk or ride along the 2.25-mile path from the Petaluma North Station, 320 Corona Road, to Penngrove Market, at 10070 Main St. There, SMART staff will greet participants with well-earned swag and refreshments. People can go at their own pace. Event-goers can "step, pedal or glide" at their own pace.

"Celebrate with us by bringing your bicycle, scooter, or walking shoes!" SMART said. "These events offer a unique chance to be among the first to ride and walk along the newly completed pathway segments."

For those who don't have a bicycle of their own, Redwood Bikeshare will be on hand.
SMART encourages community members to carpool or travel by train to one or both of the events. Complimentary day-use parking will be available.
