Suspected 'Prowler' Targets Petaluma Home; Police Seek Public's Help

Petaluma police are asking for the public's help identifying a man recorded at a Petaluma home.

PETALUMA, CA — Petaluma Police are searching for a "residential prowling" suspect seen on surveillance footage trying to access the backyard of Petaluma home.

Officers responded around 10:53 a.m. on Wednesday to the report of a prowler at a home in the 800 block of Daniel Drive. Police searched the residence, but found no one nearby.

Investigators said they found a broken kitchen window at the rear of the home, with glass scattered inside.

Surveillance footage showed a man wearing a dark sweater, or jacket, and blue jeans and a cap approaching the driveway and trying to get into the backyard through a wooden fence. The suspect may have left the area in a dark-colored truck, heading southbound, police said in a statement on social media.

The investigation is ongoing. Police asked anyone who recognizes the man or has video from the area from Wednesday morning to contact the Petaluma Police Department at (707) 778-4372, Officer Pitera at (707) 522-7831, or submit tips anonymously.
