Tuesday Protest Will Disrupt Bus Service in Santa Rosa

Many bus routes will avoid the county administration center Tuesday.

The protest set for Tuesday to demonstrate against the killing of 13-year-old Andy Lopez could snarl traffic and will force some bus routes to be changed, officials say.

Sonoma County Transit Schedule Change for Tuesday, October 28, 2013

SANTA ROSA, Calif. –For Immediate Release – Routes for bus service through the Sonoma County Administrative Center at 575 Administration Drive, Satan Rosa, will be modified beginning at 9:00 am on Tuesday, October 28, 2013.

Between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm, Sonoma County Transit routes 20, 30, 44 and 48 will not serve the County Center via Administration Drive or Ventura Avenue.  All routes will operate on Mendocino Avenue.  The stops nearest the County Center will be on Mendocino Avenue at Chanate Road. Passengers should expect delays on buses traveling the Mendocino Avenue corridor and arriving/departing from the downtown Santa Rosa Transit Mall.

Routes 44 & 48 (Petaluma to Santa Rosa) – Routes 44 & 48 will not serve the County Center, Administration Drive or Ventura Avenue between the hours of 9am and 5pm.  Instead, Routes 44 & 48 will remain on Mendocino Avenue and travel to Bicentennial Way where they connect with normal routing on Range Avenue.  Between 9am and 5pm, the bus stops nearest the County Center will be on Mendocino Avenue at Chanate Road.

Route 20  (Monte Rio – Santa Rosa) – Route 20 will not serve the County Center, Administration Drive or Ventura Avenue between the hours of 9am and 5pm.  The nearest bus stops to the County Center will be on Mendocino Avenue at Chanate Road.

Route 30 – (Sonoma Valley – Santa Rosa) – Route 30 will not serve the County Center, Administration Drive or Ventura Avenue between the hours of 9am and 5pm.  The nearest bus stops to the County Center will be on Mendocino Avenue at Chanate Road.

Only minimal and essential services will be provided at the County center from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The County advises residents and visitors to reschedule all appointments and business at the County center for another time.
