Victim Stabbed Multiple Times In Petaluma
Police say that the knife used in the attack was discarded at the front of the Mary Isaak Center for unsheltered residents.
PETALUMA, CA — A man was arrested after he allegedly stabbed someone multiple times earlier this week in Petaluma, according to police.
Just before 10 p.m. Monday, officers were sent to a report of two men fighting on Hopper Street.
An investigation revealed that the suspect stabbed the victim multiple times, sending the victim to the hospital to undergo emergency surgery due to the severity of his injuries.

As of Tuesday evening, the victim was in stable condition.
Police identified Javier Velasquez Ortega, 48, as the suspect, alleging he tossed the knife after the assault. It was later located at the front of the Mary Isaak Center for unsheltered residents.

Officers arrested Ortega on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, as well as outstanding warrants. He remains in jail on $30,000 bail.
