1 Killed In Crash On Cummings Skyway: CHP
The crash occurred just north of State Route 4, according to the CHP.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — One person was killed in a crash on Cummings Skyway Tuesday, according to the CHP.
The CHP said the fatal collision occurred just north of State Route 4 around 10:45 a.m.
Two cars were involved in the collision, according to the CHP. The second driver suffered major injuries and was taken to the hospital with injuries that appear to be non-life threatening.

According to the CHP, a preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a Ford sedan appeared to have drifted off the roadway and onto a dirt shoulder.
"The driver of the Ford then appears to have overcorrected and crossed into oncoming traffic," the CHP said.

The CHP said this caused the driver of a Nissan to collide with the passenger side of the Ford. The driver of the Nissan died at the scene.
The scene remains active and Cummings Skyway is currently closed. The CHP said it is still investigating whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash. Any witnesses can call the CHP at 925-646-4980.
