School Bus Reported in Crash on Interstate 80 East of Pinole Valley Road

A school bus was involved in a crash Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 80 just east of Pinole Valley Road, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The crash  was reported at 2:14 p.m. May 22 on the eastbound 80 with a school bus and a truck on the side of the road, according to the CHP.

At 2:47 p.m., the CHP reported there were no students on the bus at the time of the crash. One lane was expected to be blocked while a tow truck crew removed the bus.

By 3:52 p.m., eastbound traffic on the 80 was backed up several miles to San Pablo Dam Road, according to the CHP.

There were reports the incident was ongoing at 4:49 p.m. It was not clear when the roadway was completely clear for eastbound motorists.
