Officers responded to the end of John Muir for a vehicle on fire in the marsh area. Officers located a fully engulfed Mustang with no one inside. The vehicle had crashed through the wood barrier at the end of John Muir Parkway, about 30 feet into the marshland area. The driver, a 64-year-old male from Antioch, was located semiconscious about 20 feet away from the car. He did not have any visible injuries. He admitted to drinking but when questioned about crashing the car, he said he didn’t remember. The driver was transported to a hospital for medical treatment and the car was towed. An officer went to the hospital and obtained a blood sample from the driver. The driver was released pending blood sample results.
