The Week Ahead: Sycamore North, Transit Center, Cell Towers

Some of things happening in Pinole and Hercules this coming week

The Pinole City Council will discuss cell phone towers and medical marijuana at its Tuesday night meeting. The council will respond to questions and concerns from citizens over the approval in July of a request from Verizon to build a cellular communications tower in Pinole Valley Park. The council will also discuss a proposed ordinance prohibiting the use of medicinal marijuana. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 2131 Pear St.

The Hercules City Council will hold a special meeting on Tuesday evening to discuss the council's rules and procedures. There is also a closed session to discuss legal issues regarding the eminent domain procedures initiated last month in the Sycamore North development. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 111 Civic Drive.

On Wednesday, Hercules will hold an official groundbreaking for the Intermodal Transit Center. The event will kick off work on the Bay Trail and mark the completion of site preparation for the extension of John Muir Parkway. It begins at 10:30 a.m. along Bayfront Boulevard.

On Saturday, the Pinole Farmers Market holds its weekly gathering from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the corner of Tennent and San Pablo avenues.
