Cars Destroyed In Garage Fire In Pleasant Hill

The fire broke out at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday, according to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District.

PLEASANT HILL, CA — A fire caused significant damage to a residential garage in Pleasant Hill on Sunday night, according to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District. No one was injured in the fire, which was reported in the 400 block of Saddlebrook Lane, off Alhambra Avenue, at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday, said Fire Capt. Steve Aubert.

It took firefighters about 10 minutes to put out the blaze, which destroyed two cars parked inside and did damage to the garage itself, fire officials said.

The fire "is believed to have been started by carelessly discarded smoking materials outside the home," Contra Costa County Fire Protection District officials said Monday.

Two adults inside the two-story home were able to get out without any injuries, fire officials said.

There was minimal damage to the interior of the home, according to Con Fire.
