City Council Approves New Hotel/Motel ID Rules

Customers must now show photo ID to check into Pleasant Hill hotels and motels.

The Pleasant Hill City Council on Monday approved a new rule that requires hotels and motels to check photo IDs of customers, in an effort to curtail criminal activity.

"If people don't have a good, valid ID, then they don't get a room," Police Chief Pete Dunbar was quoted as saying in the Contra Costa Times. 

The city has created the ordinance as a way to crack down on prostitution and other criminal activities taking place in the city's hotels and motels. The police department says .
