White Pony Express Launches Countywide Food Drive to Support Families in Need
Fill the Hunger Gap!

CONCORD, CA — (October 28, 2025) — White Pony Express (WPE), a volunteer-powered nonprofit serving Contra Costa County, has launched a countywide food drive running October 28 through November 30 to help families affected by the suspension of federal SNAP (CalFresh) benefits.
The initiative invites residents, businesses, and community organizations to donate healthy, shelf-stable foods to ensure equitable access to nutritious groceries during this challenging time.
WPE currently delivers food to 110 nonprofit partners, with 54 more on the waitlist, underscoring the urgent need to expand resources as more households seek help.

“Each of us has the power to help close this gap,” said Eve Birge, Executive Director of White Pony Express. “By donating even a few cans or jars, we can keep families nourished and show what’s possible when a community comes together.”
