3 Pleasanton Spots Among Best East Bay Diners & Dives: Diablo Magazine
Diablo Magazine selected iconic Pleasanton spots they felt were the region's best for classic, comforting, and inexpensive meals.

PLEASANTON, CA — Whether you want the 8th best ice cream in the country or a decadent triple cheese burger, Pleasanton is the place to be, according to Diablo Magazine. The magazine recently published a list of East Bay Diners, Dive Bars, and Comfort Food Classics”- the sort of spots that are “open early for breakfast, prepare hot lunches and satisfying dinners, and pour you a drink for a reasonable price.”
For breakfast, they recommended Jim’s Country Style Restaurant, which is especially known for its different omelets named after regular customers, like the Jimmy, Jessie, and Sue. It also offers delectable diner style meals like steak and eggs, and chicken-fried steak with gravy and eggs, and stacks of pancakes and French toast. The lunch menu is full of sky-high sandwiches and burgers, and chicken, turkey, and hamburger platters with fries and sides.
Jim’s may have great burgers, but Diablo Magazine selected Bob’s Giant Burgers for its list of burger joints. It comes by its name honestly - the fresh burgers are known for being huge, as are the shakes and fries. Inside, the old-school 1962 restaurant brings a retro charm with Pleasanton history.
