BREAKING: Amador Park Shooting Suspect Arrested

PLEASANTON, CA: A 24-year-old man was arrested today in connection with a shooting at a Pleasanton park late last month after an investigation into the mysterious incident, police said. Pleasanton police initially weren't aware of victims in the April 22 shooting at Amador Park at 4455 Black Ave. but have since identified two people who were narrowly missed by bullets, according to police.

Officers had been dispatched to the park at 7:08 p.m. that day based on reports of a man brandishing a firearm and shooting his gun near picnic tables but did not find the suspect, police said. Detectives through an investigation identified Trevor Copeland as a suspect and arrested him today, according to police. He was initially contacted by officers and detained after the shooting but was not held by police after he denied involvement.

Police said detectives later determined that Copeland was acquainted with the victims; evidence connecting him to the shooting was allegedly found today when officers served a search warrant at his home. Copeland also allegedly admitted his involvement to investigators and said his motive was to rob the victims of their property.

He was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
