Cook's Seafood Applies For New Permit In Pleasanton
This indicates the long-awaited restaurant continues to work on the space, but the opening date remains elusive.

PLEASANTON, CA — Among Pleasanton residents, the long delayed opening of Cook’s Seafood has become a sort of inside joke, used in online comments the same way people say “when pigs fly.” That’s because for nearly eight years, the building at Koll Center Plaza has had a sign for Cook’s Seafood, with a sign saying, “Coming soon.” Could that promise actually be fulfilled?
Public city records indicate that the city of Pleasanton has issued Cook’s a new permit to replace a permit that expires in March. Lisa Hatton, an administrative assistant with the city, told Pleasanton Weekly that the new permit allows Cook’s to continue construction, and they have until March 11 to complete the improvements, or request a city inspection to show that they are working to complete them.

In May, city spokesperson Heather Tiernan told Patch that Cook’s Seafood has faced numerous setbacks over the years, like a change in contractor, COVID, supply chain constraints, change in ownership, and more.

“City inspectors have maintained contact with the contractor and owner to assist in keeping the project moving along, most recently doing a site visit in early May,” she said. “Cooks is still working on several items that need to be addressed and they need to obtain final approvals from the Alameda County Department of Environmental Health and LPFD, so they aren’t ready to open at this time. However, progress is once again being made.”
Patch tried to contact Cook’s Seafood, which does not have a direct media contact. We were directed to an employee at the Cook’s Seafood marketplace at their existing location in Menlo Park. He told Patch he had no status updates, and didn’t know anyone who had any. “I have no idea when it’s gonna open,” he said, pre-empting the question. “It’ll be announced when it’s announced. We don’t know.”

Patch reached out to Wilson General Contracting, the contractor listed on the permit, and is awaiting response.
